Michigami.news is the product of one person. I received a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois, worked as a reporter for the Belleville News-Democrat, Associated Press, the Tampa Tribune (defunct), the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times) and then freelanced for publications ranging from the National Law Journal to High Times. My work has won state and national awards.

News tips and comments are much appreciated. You can email them to me through the website’s contact page. Or, you can call me at 219-616-4973. I look forward to hearing from you.

My goal with Michigami is to break down big issues into articles that offer in-depth coverage of local circumstances. Lake Michigan will be a particular focus.

The word “michigami” supposedly means “great water” and has been attributed to both the Ojibwe and the Algonquin tribes.
